Tribute to Women 2012

At the Tribute to MU Women 2012, the MU Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women will honor outstanding women faculty, staff and students who have contributed to the advancement of women at MU. The ceremony will take place on March 22, 3:30 p.m., Stotler Lounge, Memorial Union.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: February 8, 2012, 5:00 p.m.

ELIGIBILITY

Nominees should be currently active MU women faculty, staff or students who have met all three criteria, below:

  1. Worked above and beyond the expectations of their job responsibilities to help create an environment of equity, fairness and justice for women on the MU campus, including students, faculty and staff
    AND
  2. Demonstrated respect for the diversity of women's experiences
    AND
  3. Helped promote the advancement of women through education, advocacy, support and activism

Please note that while there are many admirable women at MU who deserve to be recognized for their outstanding work as teachers, scholars, role models, volunteers, and so on, please note that this award is specifically designed to recognize those working outside their job descriptions on behalf of other women specifically.

Current members (excluding ex-officio) of the Committee on the Status of Women are not eligible for nomination, nor are previous recipients of this award. NOMINATION

Two letters of nomination in support of each candidate, of no more than 1000 words each, must be submitted through the submission website. Letters primarily should address the ways the candidate meets the three criteria specified above. Nomination letters will be kept confidential and only members of the Tribute to MU Women committee will read the letters. It is the responsibility of the nominator to ensure that two letters are submitted on their nominee's behalf, but please do not submit more than two letters the committee will read the first two letters submitted only. Each nominator will be notified that her/his letter of nomination has been received.

SELECTION

The Selection Committee, composed of members of the MU Committee on the Status of Women, will select nominees to be honored at an afternoon ceremony and reception on March 22, in conjunction with Women's History Month. The Primary Nominator of each awardee will be asked to provide a 2-minute introduction of the awardee. All nominators will be invited to the ceremony, as will University officials and friends of the honoree.
